Gujarat: Who is the next CM after Rupani’s resignation: It is not just about changing the CM now, but who can get the BJP back to Gujarat is also a big aspect. The party is also brainstorming on the same right now. Whatever new Chief Minister of Gujarat is made, there are going to be many challenges.
Gujarat BJP has witnessed the biggest upset ahead of assembly elections. CM Vijay Rupani has resigned as chief minister. After Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Gujarat has also changed leadership ahead of elections. The question now is, who will be the next Chief Minister of Gujarat?
Rupani resigns, who is the new CM?
There are currently four to five names in the BJP camp that are said to be able to take over Gujarat. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Union Minister Purushottam Rupala, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya are the most talked-about names. The seal is not in any name but Mandaviya is said to be at the forefront of the race. In addition to these names, the names of Gordhan Jadafia and Cr Patil are also being discussed. Now it is possible to seal a name only after the legislature party meeting.
But it is not just about changing the CM now, but who can get the BJP back to Gujarat is also a big aspect. The party is also brainstorming on the same right now. Whatever new Chief Minister of Gujarat is made, there are going to be many challenges.
Challenge No. 1- Assembly Elections
The biggest challenge is the Gujarat assembly elections. The BJP is set to face a tough fight with both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party this time in next year’s elections. The BJP did form the government in Gujarat in the 2017 assembly elections, but the Congress also performed well. That is why the BJP got stuck in 99 seats. In such a situation, how to improve that performance, how to infuse new energy into the workers, the new Chief Minister will have to do it in a short time.
Challenge No. 2- Corona Miss-Management
It has been said that one of the reasons behind Vijay Rupani’s resignation is the mismanagement during the Corona period. The Gujarat government was reprimanded by the High Court on several occasions during the second wave of the corona. There was also a controversy over the exact figures of corona deaths. Many people were unhappy with CM Rupani’s work because of this. Now that the third wave is likely to come, the new chief minister will have to put Gujarat’s health systems back on track. Removing the resentment among people during the Corona period will also prove to be a big challenge.
Challenge No. 3- Need to be a charismatic leader
Gujarat has been the karmabhoomi of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, the BJP expanded tremendously in the state, and Modi himself became the chief minister of the state thrice. The BJP now needs another charismatic leader for a state like Gujarat. Anandiben Patel and Vijay Rupani also worked, but that charismatic leadership remained unhappy. Whoever becomes the new Chief Minister will not only have to improve his communication with the people but also popularise himself so that the party can vote on his face in the coming elections.
Challenge No. 4- Pleasing Patidar community
In terms of political equations, the new chief minister is also going to face many challenges. If corona mismanagement is corrected, workers are filled with enthusiasm, but still, there is an issue that can change the election results and have the power to cause huge damage to the BJP – the Patidar community. The Patidar movement had made bjp’s victory in the 2017 elections very hard. In the Saurashtra area, the party had a way to clean the fabric. The BJP cannot again offend the community in the coming elections. Therefore, whoever now commands the state, this community will need to practice properly
